The Hartsville Red Foxes opened their playoff series with a dramatic 5-4 walk-off win over the May River Sharks on Wednesday night at Jimmy White Park.

Trailing late, Hartsville rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure the victory. Ford Wallace delivered an RBI single down the left field line before Brandon Anderson drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game. Moments later, Bryce Segars hit a dribbling single down the first base line to score the winning run and send the Red Foxes to a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series.

Jaden Atkinson kept Hartsville in the game with a strong start after recovering from a 3 run first inning by May River. He struck out 11 over six innings while allowing four runs, three earned. Wallace earned the win after a scoreless seventh inning.

The bottom of the Hartsville lineup sparked the offense, with Caleb Lloyd, Wells Bannister, and Wallace combining for six of the team’s eight hits. Wallace finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Lloyd and Bannister each added two hits.

Game 2 of the series is scheduled for Friday at 6:00 p.m. at May River.
